Lighting Up the Community — Together
This October 11th, Yellow Hope Foundation will be part of the Diwali Mela in Pleasanton, California, and we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate this beautiful festival of light, community, and renewal with all of you.
Diwali is about more than lamps and sweets, it’s about hope triumphing over hardship, light overcoming darkness, and community standing together. That’s exactly what Yellow Hope stands for.
We invite you to visit our booth, meet our team, and learn how together we can bring light to a growing challenge in our community - weekend child hunger.
Why We’re Here
Even in the East Bay’s thriving neighborhoods, many families face quiet struggles with food insecurity.
In Alameda County alone, 1 in 4 residents are at risk of hunger at some point each year (Alameda County Community Food Bank, 2024). For thousands of children, the meals they receive at school are their most reliable source of nutrition. When the weekend comes, that support disappears.
Our Rise & Dine Weekends program works to close that gap providing nutritious, shelf-stable meal kits to children and families through local schools and community partners.
But we can’t do it alone. That’s why we’re using this Diwali Mela not just to celebrate but to build a movement of compassion, volunteerism, and community action.
How You Can Help
We’re inviting volunteers, neighbors, students, and families to join us in making a difference -- right here in the East Bay.

Volunteers help us pack meal kits, organize food drives, and connect with schools and local partners. Every helping hand makes a real difference.
“When we give our time, we give something that money can’t buy — hope.”
Why Volunteer?
Volunteering with Yellow Hope Foundation is about more than service, it’s about belonging to something bigger.
It’s about the joy of giving, the pride of teamwork, and the power of knowing that even one small act can change someone’s weekend and sometimes, their life.
Whether you’re a student looking to give back, a family wanting to serve together, or a professional with skills to share, there’s a place for you in this mission.
